A Note From The Owner
As Christians, we hold ourselves to the standards of God, rather than the standards of the world. This makes a huge difference in terms of having a genuine passion for using the gifts we've been given to provide assistance to our brothers and sisters in Christ at every opportunity.

When I first began The Word Company, it was out of a desire to be a "stay-at-home" mom with my two young children. I could see almost immediately that résumés were going to be a large part of my business, so I undertook to learn as much as possible about them. Although I had done a few résumés for friends and relatives in previous years, I had not kept up with current trends.

As I began to study résumé writing, it became obvious that no book or software program dealt specifically with "ordinary" working folk -- resume writing texts were virtually all tailored to "white-collar" positions. It was also obvious that no single one of them contained everything I felt should be taught about résumé writing.

So, I set out to write my own book. And I did! My belief, in the end, was that it shouldn't be just a book, though. My work with high school career and technical education students led to me to the firm conviction that a worthwhile résumé cannot be written without first assessing the skills and knowledge of the individual. The book turned into a full course of study on résumé writing.

I also developed innovative new formats that were a much better use of space than the old "Harvard Business School" format that was so commonly used in the 1980s. My formats have been highly successful and have brought me many additional clients through word-of-mouth "advertising" because they are so well received by business and industry.

Today, résumés are changing again -- this time to accommodate scanners and web pages and the Information Superhighway. And I continue to learn and grow as a résumé writer -- for although we are to separate ourselves from the world; if we refuse to change with the working world, it will eventually pass us by.
